Recently, our scientist Robin Schoemaker represented the Center for the Transformation of Chemistry (CTC) at a high-level Roundtable organized by The European House-Ambrosetti (TEHA) in cooperation with Pirelli in Brussels. Moderator Alessandro Viviani, Associate Partner & Head of GreenTech Hub, TEHA Group, led through the discussion on “ZERO CARBON COMMUNITY The supply chain of bio-based and recycled materials – Open points and opportunities”. The event underscored the European industry’s commitment to merging sustainability with competitiveness – two critical factors shaping the continent’s industrial future.
As industries work towards achieving decarbonization targets and adopting more sustainable production methods, the use of bio-based and recycled materials is crucial for reducing emissions and boosting industrial resilience. However, scaling these solutions requires a concerted effort from policymakers, businesses, and investors to overcome regulatory hurdles and create market incentives.
The Roundtable aimed to facilitate strategic discussions on the challenges and opportunities for bio-based and recycled material supply chains in advancing decarbonization efforts. The discussion brought together European institutions, industry leaders, and investors to explore critical pathways that align with the goals of the Clean Industrial Deal – ensuring and combining sustainability, circularity, and competitiveness.
