The Academy for Chemical Transformation

Qualification is a continuous and lengthy process that poses major challenges, particularly against the backdrop of structural change in the Central German mining region. In order to address this challenge in a targeted manner, the CTC has set up its own department, the Academy for Chemical Transformation (ACT), which will bring tailored qualification programs to various target groups in the region. The programs are aimed in particular at school students, trainees, doctoral candidates, and (junior) scientists.

Targeted Promotion of Young Scientists

The CTC aims to combine excellent research with entrepreneurial thinking. Organized by ACT, doctoral candidates not only deepen their scientific knowledge as part of a structured graduate program, but are also prepared for employment in industry. The CTC will establish a sciencepreneurship program as a central qualification offering for doctoral students, postdocs, and junior research group leaders. A fundamental component of this is gaining a comprehensive understanding of the fields of business, entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology transfer.

Continuous Training of Chemical Specialists

The shortage of skilled workers is a pervasive issue for the chemical industry and related occupational groups. In response, the CTC will train chemical specialists in the region, thereby offering long-term prospects for the region. This commitment will make both chemical and technical professions in Central Germany more attractive, innovative, and future-proof.

A central concern of the CTC is the training of chemical laboratory assistants for its own laboratory operations, as well as for spin-offs and start-ups in the CTC environment and for regional employers in the chemical industry.

Supportive Educational Opportunities for the Central Germany Region

The CTC wants to inspire young people in school to take an interest in science and research. Students of all ages and from all types of schools will be able to gain practical experience with basic experiments and even challenging chemistry experiments under the guidance of the CTC staff. The experiments will reflect the CTC’s main topics and thus impart application-oriented knowledge on sustainable chemistry, circular economy, and recycling, for example. ACT works closely with local institutions and will set up a student laboratory at its Delitzsch site.
