The Center for the Transformation of Chemistry (CTC) is taking the next steps in setting up its research program. It will be an official partner in joint PhD projects with the Universities of Oxford and York.
The CTC is now officially a partner for PhD projects with the Chemical Synthesis for a Healthy Planet Doctoral Training Centre (CSHP CDT). The joint center is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). It focuses is on training the next generation of synthetic chemists by developing a sustainable, innovative chemistry culture that equips students to address major emerging and future global challenges in Human Health, Energy & Materials, and Food Security.
The center offers a fully funded, four-year PhD program, delivered jointly by the Universities of Oxford and York, starting in October 2026. The combines theory, like different courses, with practical research projects, which are co-supervised by researchers of both universities. In three of these projects the CTC is a partner and contributing complementary expertise and providing valuable training opportunities. That also includes academic exchanges – meaning that PhD students with a successful application will spend a research period in one of the research groups at the CTC.
Further information on the project and details about the application process (deadline: 8 January 2026, noon (UCT)) can be found under https://cshp-cdt.chem.ox.ac.uk/programme/research-projects.html
