On April 17, eight members of the Expert:inside Pool visited the emerging CTC in Delitzsch: Prof. Roger Gläser (University of Leipzig), Prof. Tanja Gulder (University of Leipzig), Heike Kienert (Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces), Prof. Thomas Lenk (University of Leipzig), Prof. Reinhard Pöllath (Pöllath & Partner), Prof. Ulrich Schubert (University of Jena), Prof. Elke Schweers (Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences) and Prof. Jan J. Weigand (TU Dresden). Together with seven other scientists from Germany, the UK and the USA, they supported the development of the concept for the CTC.

Guided tour of the old sugar factory

Delitzsch’s mayor Dr. Manfred Wilde led the group around the site of the old sugar factory in Delitzsch, where the CTC campus is to be built. While looking at the various buildings on the industrial wasteland, the historian explained what purpose they had served in previous times and which ones are to be preserved. He also showed where the CTC buildings are to be built and where other types of use are planned, such as potential company settlements, a guest house or the new commuter train station.

Exchange on further steps

Following the site inspection, the experts had a discussion with the CTC team. Among other things, they discussed the further path to institutionalization and the development of the future CTC site. During an impromptu tour of the city by the mayor and the subsequent dinner – then also in the presence of District Administrator Kai Emanuel – these topics were further explored.
