The structural change triggered by the coal phase-out is bringing profound transformation to entire regions – while at the same time opening up new career opportunities. In the current spring edition of Wirtschaftszeitung Sachsen and in an online article published by Sächsische Zeitung, examples from major research centers in Saxony illustrate the diverse career paths emerging for women in the context of this transformation.

The article features, among others, Sarah Kilz and Dr. Juliane Adler from the Center for the Transformation of Chemistry (CTC).

Sarah Kilz works as a Business Development Manager in Technology Transfer, operating at the interface between science and application. She supports the translation of research results into industrial and societal contexts and contributes to the development of sustainable transfer structures.

“Being able to contribute your own ideas in a research institution that is still being built is a unique opportunity,” she says. This perspective shapes her daily work with researchers, industry partners, and intermediaries.

Dr. Juliane Adler, a physicist, actively contributes to the strategic development of the CTC as Scientific Talent Manager. She is a central point of contact for recruiting future scientific talent and combines subject-matter expertise with strategic personnel development and a long-term vision for the research location.

Together with colleagues from the German Centre for Astrophysics (DZA), the article makes it clear that despite different research focuses, both large-scale research centers are creating comparable new roles, development opportunities, and creative scope for women – across science, management, technology transfer, qualification, and other areas.

The CTC is pleased with this public recognition and the growing interest in career opportunities within the context of structural change. Current job openings and further information on career opportunities at the Center for the Transformation of Chemistry can be found on our career-site.
