Since 2023, the Center for the Transformation of Chemistry is being established as a new research center in Central Germany. The CTC was selected among nearly 100 proposals by an independent “Perspectives Commission”. On August 27, 2025, members of this commission, as well as representatives from federal and state politics, and representatives from ministries and science, visited the future CTC campus in Delitzsch to learn about the progress of establishing the CTC.

After a guided tour of Delitzsch with Mayor Manfred Wilde, the delegation of around 30 people gathered in an industrial hall (fondly referred to as “Orangerie” by the CTC team) on the site of the former sugar factory. CTC founding director Peter Seeberger, head of strategy Marco Zimmermann, and project manager Lars Reinhold presented the milestones of the past three years. Furthermore, the campus model and the subsequent tour of the site provided a look ahead on the upcoming developments in the coming years.

By 2038, the CTC is expected to grow to a thousand employees; the funding volume is €1.2 billion, 90% of which is provided by the federal government, 7% by Saxony, and 3% by Saxony-Anhalt.
